Daterra Portela do Vento is a red wine with biodynamic barrel made by Daterra Wine Growers en Ribeira Sacra (Galicia) with the varieties Grenache Tintorera y mencia.

Daterra Wine Growers is the project created by Laura Lawrence, a Galician viticulturist known for the production of different wines deeply rooted in the orography del Bibei Valley (Ribeira Sacra). A work of maximum passion and minimal interventionism that is characterized by cultivating autochthonous varieties, maceration with the skins and the use of clay amphoras.

Daterra Portela do Vento comes from old vineyards located in the Val do Bibei. Strains planted in the Balkans at an altitude of 400 meters, very steep and with granite soil. These are vineyards that are difficult to access, where heroic viticulture is practiced with biodynamic precepts and very low yields. The harvest is manual in boxes of 15 kg at the optimum moment of maturation.

In the winery, 20% of the grapes from Daterra Portela do Vento it is destemmed. Afterwards, a 10-day maceration with skins begins and a spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ages for 11 months in 500-liter French oak and chestnut barrels. Once the wine is finished, it is bottled without stabilizing, without clarifying, without filtering and adding a minimum dose of sulphites.

Daterra Portela do Vento consists of a small production that is born del effort and love for a job well done. A red wine with an Atlantic profile with a lot of personal charm.
