PRODUCTION DETAILS: It is not easy to define Angostura. A bitter, an enhancer del taste or medicine? Due to Angostura it is also - and above all - this, that traces history. It all started in 1824 in Venezuela. Simón Bolívar's fight for the independence of his country. The Prussian army doctor Johann Siegert is inferring Bolívar's companies and ideals, and decides to join him to fight by his side. The diseases and injuries that war causes, push it and seek a remedy to alleviate the suffering of the soldiers. After four years of attempts, a bitter herb that can improve men's health was finally born, and Siegert gave it the name Angostura, the name of the city in which he was stationed, which in 1846 was called Ciudad Bolívar. The war ended with independence and Dr. Siegert began selling his "bitter", which was a worldwide success. No longer as a medicine but as a condiment in the kitchen first, and then as an addition to alcoholic beverages. A few drops of Angostura Aromatic Bitter make every cocktail something special. You can't imagine a Manhattan or a Pisco Sour without some bitter tears. Angostura Aromatic Bitter is still produced today as then in the old distillery, according to a recipe never revealed.
